Paul Margie
is a partner with the law firm of Wiltshire & Grannis LLP,
where he focuses on telecommunications and technology law. Mr. Margie
advises clients on communications, Internet, corporate foundations/CSR,
and other legal issues. His clients include wireless and wireline
service providers, Internet service providers, manufacturers,
international charities, satellite companies, and software companies.
Mr. Margie represents clients before the FCC, the courts, the Executive
Branch, and foreign regulatory agencies. Mr. Margie has served in senior positions at the FCC and on Capitol Hill. From 2001-2005 he served as Legal Advisor to FCC Commissioner Michael J. Copps, where he advised the Commissioner on wireless, satellite, spectrum allocation, and international issues. Prior to his work at the FCC, from 1998-2001, Mr. Margie served first as Legislative Counsel and then as Senior Commerce Counsel for Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, where he advised the Senator on telecommunications, Internet, science and technology, intellectual property, and economic development policy. Before joining Senator Rockefeller's staff, he was an attorney with the law firm of Wiley, Rein & Fielding. Mr. Margie was also Senior Director for Technology Partnerships at the United Nations Foundation, a foundation created by Ted Turner's $1 Billion gift to the UN. He directed a worldwide partnership with the Vodafone Group Foundation to use technology to advance development, establishing partnerships and programs with the International Telecommunications Union, UNICEF, the World Food Program, the World Health Organization, Télécoms sans Frontières, Nokia, Palm Inc., and TerreStar. Mr. Margie is an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University Law Center where he teaches communications law, is the Co-Chair of the Federal Communications Bar Association's International Practice Committee, and is on the Board of Trustees of DataDyne and the MetaCancer Foundation. |
