W&G Partners Kent Bressie and Patricia Paoletta Speak as Featured Participants at PTC ‘12 in Honolulu, Hawaii
WASHINGTON, D.C., January 18, 2012
Wiltshire & Grannis LLP ("W&G") partners Kent Bressie and
Patricia Paoletta served as featured speakers and panelists in sessions at
Pacific Telecommunications Council ("PTC") 2012—one of the world's premier
telecommunications conferences—held in Honolulu, Hawaii, from January 15th to
18th, 2012.
Kent spoke on two panels,
addressing both the future of regulation of undersea fiber-optic cables (see
presentation here) and the legal and policy issues associated with
deploying scientific sensors on such cables (see presentation here).
Patricia spoke on the evolving regulatory framework for cognitive radio as part
of a panel addressing whether and how regulations are driving disruption in
telecommunications markets (see
presentation here).
Kent is an expert on
telecommunications regulation and international trade and investment and
leads W&G's international practice. He regularly represents
undersea cable operators, wireline and wireless carriers, and
infrastructure suppliers in all aspects of their businesses, including
communications and environmental permitting, market access and foreign
investment, national security and law enforcement, export controls and economic
sanctions, and the law of the sea.
Patricia is well-known for her
telecommunications and technology policy work and leads W&G's
legislative practice. Patricia regularly represents providers of
international telecommunications, smart grid, mobile broadband, VoIP, public
safety, and homeland security solutions before the FCC, Congress, and
the Administration, providing them regulatory and policy advice.
The Pacific Telecommunications
Council (the organization) brings together members in over sixty countries to
promote the development and use of telecommunications to improve the lives of
people in the Pacific region. PTC '12, PTC's 34th annual conference,
continued this tradition by featuring industry workshops, roundtables, and
panel discussions focused on the theme "Harnessing Disruption—Global, Mobile,
Social, Local."
