Regulatory Advisory: FCC Issues Retransmission Consent NPRM
On March 3, 2011, the FCC issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (“NPRM”) requesting public comment on proposals to streamline the “retransmission consent” rules governing satellite and cable carriage of broadcast television stations.

Advisory: CableCARD Order
The Federal Communications Commission yesterday unanimously voted to issue an Order concerning its CableCARD rules (the “CableCARD Order”). This Order is part of the Commission’s ongoing effort to implement Section 304 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which was intended to promote competition in the market for video programming navigation devices (such as cable set-top boxes).

W&G Represents CFC in Obtaining Unconditional FCC and British Virgin Islands Government Approvals to Acquire ICC Businesses
W&G successfully represented National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation in obtaining unconditional approval from the FCC and the British Virgin Islands Government for CFC’s acquisition from Stan Springel, as Chapter 11 trustee for the bankruptcy estate of Innovative Communication Corporation, of the principal telecommunications and cable television providers in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the principal cable television provider in the British Virgin Islands.
