Amy E. Richardson is a partner with the law firm of Wiltshire & Grannis. Ms. Richardson practices in the areas of white-collar criminal litigation, governmental enforcement actions, defamation, media matters and complex civil litigation.
Ms. Richardson represents clients in complex commercial and criminal proceedings. Ms. Richardson has represented clients on a variety of issues in state and federal court proceedings at both the trial and appellate levels, as well as before federal agencies. She has been involved in virtually all aspects of such complex proceedings, including drafting briefs and pleadings, preparing witnesses, taking and defending depositions, and pre-trial practice. Her administrative litigation experience includes serving as lead counsel in a successful challenge to a security clearance revocation. Her white-collar criminal experience includes preparation and counseling for clients' grand-jury appearances, debriefings with prosecutors, and trial testimony.
Ms. Richardson also has represented telecommunications carriers and other service providers before the Federal Communications Commission and state public utility commissions in enforcement and policy making matters involving the Universal Service Fund, unbundled network elements, number porting and the Freedom of Information Act. Ms. Richardson has counseled Fortune 500 corporations in the areas of identity theft, online payment systems, and state and federal privacy regulation. She has also counseled broadcasters on compliance with indecency regulations.
Ms. Richardson graduated cum laude from Duke University School of Law in 2002, where she served as the Managing Editor of the Duke Journal of Gender Law and Policy, as a Contributing Editor to the Duke Law and Technology Review, and was elected by the faculty as the Outstanding Advocate in her graduating class. Ms. Richardson graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Communications Studies from the University of North Carolina in 1998.
Ms. Richardson has engaged in a number of pro bono representations including the representation of victims of domestic violence.
