Madeleine V. Findley is a partner with Wiltshire & Grannis LLP in Washington, D.C., and practices primarily in the area of privacy and telecommunications law.  Ms. Findley advises clients on communications, Internet, privacy, domestic and international regulatory strategy and compliance matters, and other legal issues before the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of State, the Office of the United States Trade Representative, and other agencies and the courts.  She counsels clients on issues arising under the Communications Act, the Federal Trade Commission Act, and other federal and state laws regulating privacy and data security. Her clients include wireline, wireless, and VoIP service providers, broadband and Internet service providers, online collaboration services, e-commerce services, undersea cable systems, and hardware and software providers.   She also has experience advising clients on legal and policy issues arising in international business transactions, including regulatory, national security, and export control reviews.   

Ms. Findley counsels clients on a wide-range of Internet and information law matters involving privacy and data protection, electronic surveillance, e-discovery, information security, cloud computing, social media, location services, e-commerce, and national security.  She has experience drafting and reviewing policies and programs regarding compliance with federal laws, regulations, and policies on privacy and data security, including the FCC's privacy regulations (CPNI) and the FTC Act, as well as myriad state laws.   

She also works with the appellate litigation group on civil and criminal appeals in the United States Supreme Court and various Courts of Appeals.  

Ms. Findley served as a law clerk to the Honorable David H. Coar of the United States Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and to the Honorable Ronald Lee Gilman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.  She graduated from Yale University, the University of Michigan Ford School of Public Policy, and the University of Michigan Law School.  She was an Articles Editor for the Michigan Law Review and a member of the Michigan Journal of Gender & Law.  Before attending law school, Ms. Findley served as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member and worked in publishing.
